Bati Chingri
Ah Sunday! The lazy family day! But what do I cook for lunch that everyone would like and at the same time let me enjoy my Sunday too? Ah, a very simple but outstanding prawn dish which goes swimmingly with hot plain white rice.
Ingredients
6-8 large prawns, shelled, deveined and cleaned with the tail intact
3 tbsp mustard powder
4 green chillies
3 tbsp desiccated coconut powder
1tsp ginger paste
1tsp garlic paste
150 gms yogurt
3 tbsp. of mustard oil
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp. of haldi powder
Salt to taste
Preparation
Make a paste with 3 tablespoons mustard powder. While making the paste add Salt and green chillies as this helps to ensure that the paste is not bitter.
In a bowl pour the mustard oil, desiccated coconut, ginger and garlic paste, yogurt, mustard paste, haldi powder, sugar and a few green chillies cut slit lengthwise, Mix well and add all the prawns to the bowl. Cover with a lid and cook the mix on a low flame for 15-20 minutes.
Serve with hot white rice. And break out that secretly hoarded bottle of white wine hoarding!
